Brecht Cardoen

Associate Professor of Operations Management

Brecht introduces you to decision science and process analytics – and their impact on manufacturing and service operations.

Brecht Cardoen’s research concentrates on healthcare process management and optimisation, with a particular focus on hospitals. He contributes to a wide variety of research initiatives that impact business and society – and his work has been published in international and refereed academic journals.

At Vlerick, Brecht teaches management science and statistics on our MBA and Masters programmes. And in executive education, he teaches programmes for operational managers, healthcare professionals and physicians. Brecht also heads up our MINOZ Research Centre, a hub for Belgian hospitals to share and solve operational challenges.

In his work, Brecht promotes applying modelling techniques to complex processes to reach sound and integrated decisions – often in a multi-disciplinary setting. He works with various companies to highlight how decision analysis can impact real-world projects.
