Brett Hamilton

Brett Hamilton is a researcher in the Strategy in Action Platform, where he collaborates with Professors Carine Peeters and Martin Weiss.

Keen to give back, Brett has mentored multiple pan-African start-ups in renewables and the circular economy through The Launch Lab, a Stellenbosch University incubator.

He’s also a visiting lecturer at Stellenbosch Business School, where he gives classes in corporate finance, financial management and international business strategy. He teaches various executive education courses at institutions in South Africa and elsewhere, and enjoys exploring strategy, entrepreneurship, finance, governance and ethics with students.

Before joining Vlerick, Brett co-founded and was Director of Strategy at First River Capital, where he advised clients on strategy and corporate governance. He has extensive experience as an entrepreneur and investor in media, FMCG, agriculture and property development.
