Driving sustainable value creation with management accountancy – and leveraging technology to make better financial decisions
Kristof Stouthuysen focuses on the effective design and use of financial and non-financial information as a key instrument to inform external stakeholders, manage business performance, lead organisational members and drive superior and sustainable value creation. Over the last few years, he has focused on the digitisation of the finance office and the use of AI and Machine Learning to help finance leaders and executives make better decisions. His research has been published in various top academic journals and in 2019, he won Vlerick’s best researcher award.
At Vlerick, Kristof teaches on our Masters, MBA and executive programmes – as well as company-specific programmes. He believes accounting is the forgotten leadership discipline. This is because accounting numbers like revenues, costs, and profits do not manage themselves – people manage them, and people are managed with them. Kristof has been nominated for, and won, various best teacher awards.
Kristof heads the Accounting and Finance Area at Vlerick. He also established and directs the Centre for Financial Leadership and Digital Transformation.
