Matthias is carrying out doctoral research into how employees can shape an organisation’s strategy.
Matthias Pfisterer is a doctoral researcher at Vlerick. His PhD explores why employees get involved in shaping their organisation’s strategy – and what the outcomes of their efforts are.
In today’s ever-evolving business landscape, top management alone can’t keep track of every development. So they ask everyone in their organisation to contribute to strategy – and expect employees to take a more proactive role in its development. However, there’s little research into why and how employees can contribute – and how doing so can benefit them and their organisation. Matthias hopes his work will provide some answers.
Before starting his PhD, Matthias worked as a researcher at Vlerick, focusing on emergent strategy and the role a leader plays in an organisation’s strategic efforts. He also took part in a research stay at the University of Groningen.
