Is a strong proponent of multi-disciplinary research approaches – and active, experiential, cooperative teaching
Thanos believes that the greatest solutions come from interdisciplinary research. His research draws from the collective knowledge of finance, behavioural economics, innovation and psychology to create more comprehensive and impactful approaches to addressing multifaceted challenges. His work has appeared in leading academic journals, such as the Journal of Finance, Research Policy and the European Journal of Operational Research.
Thanos believes that absorbing information passively is ineffective. Spoon-feeding, he says, imparts little more than the spoon’s shape in the long term. Instead, he believes that true education goes beyond mere information sharing. He therefore believes that university teachers place too much emphasis on individualistic and competitive learning – and not enough on active, experiential and cooperative learning opportunities.
A winner of several teaching awards, Thanos’s vision is to deliver a truly transformational educational experience.
