Sophie Libouton, Team Manager Governance & Methods at STIB-MIVB shares her key takeaways of the 6-day programme Mastering IT Management.
Previously, I worked in banking/insurance (for 18 years) and the retail sector (4 years) – and now, for the last 2.5 years, I’ve been working in public transport services in Brussels. During my career, I’ve played multiple roles in a variety of domains, including HR and staffing strategy, portfolio management, architecture, and finance.
I prefer to lead the change by connecting people and organisation, being pragmatic and introducing new ways of thinking and working, and keeping things simple.
360° understanding of an Information Systems Department
One of my strengths is being able to read the functioning of an organisation, quickly detect pain points, and propose new pragmatic solutions. This programme gives everyone – from business to IT – a 360-degree understanding of the various elements that an Information Systems Department has to deal with.
In my case, I’m responsible for a Governance & Methods team and a digital transformation programme called ServeIT (related to Enterprise Service Management). It was very valuable for me to be able to take a step back from my day-to-day work and participate in this programme. Discussing use cases with people from other companies adds to your knowledge and gives you new perspectives on your own company.
Bringing people into their strengths
Thanks to the programme and its 360-degree view, I have a better understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of our organisation. I’m focusing on influencing my organisation by working more on strategy and bringing people into their strengths. I’m ambitious and would like to get the organisation more on board with Enterprise Service Management. I’m also building a governance and methods team, with a clear mission and services, which entails applying smart governance.
Steering things with a different perspective
I would definitely recommend this programme to anyone interested in understanding what it means to transform a business working in partnership with Information Systems. Whatever role you have – IT or Business, Programme Manager or CIO – this programme helps you steer things with a different perspective and understanding.
